Special Branch might track down the perpetrators of the contamination in Sungai Buah, says the natural resources and environment minister.
Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar is reported as saying by The Star that he will not rule out seeking the help of Special Branch to track down those responsible for the contamination in Sungai Buah, which cut off water supply to millions in the Klang Valley during the Deepavali week.
Selangor said earlier it was not a coincidence that seven such incidents had occurred in the span of a month.
The authorities are building bunds to hold the contaminants in Sungai Buah to prevent them from flowing into Sungai Semenyih.
Activated carbon, which bind the contaminants to the surface of the river, is used to treat Sungai Buah.
Selangor exco member Elizabeth Wong says the state has forwarded evidence of the pollution, which it says originated from Nilai, Negri Sembilan, to Putrajaya.
She adds that the Negri Sembilan government refuses to treat polluted water on its side.
